Imposter Sisters Podcast
with Alix & Colleen

It’s not surprising that Sam’s last name rhymes with adore because we absolutely adore her!! In this week’s episode of Imposter Sisters, we chat with Sam, podcaster at Let Me Overthink About It”, on mental illness, podcasting, entrepreneurship, PMDD, “playing the victim”, comparing yourself to others, being hard on yourself, the difference between men and women, speaking up for yourself, ageing, and self sabotage to name a few things!

Categorizing herself as a perfectionist, Sam is open, vulnerable, warm and completely authentic. Sam loves reading, writing and long walks on the beach! :) She allows herself to feel what she’s feeling but doesn’t let herself stay in that spot for too long. This episode is about Self Sabotage, being a Self Advocate, and so much more!

The Superwoman Code
with one of my faves – Dr. Ashley Margeson

We talk about building our own mental health toolbox.

Too  often we get caught up in listening to what everyone else is doing, and then trying to work our lives around their strategies. What we should be doing is taking bits and pieces from others (friends, coworkers, people on social media, etc) and use snippets to find what works for us in our environments.

"There is no perfect template for your mental health toolbox. There is only what works for you and your experience."

Thinking Out Loud with Sheldon MacLeod
: I talk about mental health and grief. I share how the loss of my mother affected me and the impact we can all have when we open up and are honest about our own struggles and challenges.

This conversation was promoting an online speaker series I was featured in – presented by CMHA Nova Scotia during 2022 Mental Health Week: Empathy in Action. Hosted by Susan Henderson, Executive Director of the Colchester East Hants branch of CMHA. We talk about the relationship between anxiety, guilt and grief, how mental illness can compound feelings of loneliness, loss and grief, and what it looks like to be okay with feeling your feelings.
